Dartmouth researchers have lead the development of several methods and tools for interventional imaging and image-guided therapy. The Center for Surgical Innovation is a new state-of-the-art facility for development and evaluation of new imaging and therapy tools in clinical and preclinical studies.
Primary clinical applications are currently in neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, breast surgery, urologic surgery, thoracic surgery and orthopedic surgery. Advances in imaging in radiology and radiation oncology are also areas of major development. The tools developed, disseminated and evaluated include software, optimized display interfaces, analyses of accuracy of the guidance, and decision support metrics.
